ART SCHOLARSHIP FUND | 2011-2012 CAMPAIGN
Supporting the Nash Gallery
Think about it. The single most important activity for a U of M undergraduate art student is...to create art! Making art is a time-intensive activity, one that requires physical and mental energy, a ton of various art supplies and materials, and the time and studio space for an artist to follow a creative inspiration.
Trying to work a full-time or even part-time job in order to make ends meet during college creates a significant stumbling block to an art student. After putting in 20 to 40 hours per week of work, plus class time and homework, there's not much time nor energy left for the young artist to create new works.
Astute and caring individuals have realized this over the years, and they've created endowed scholarship funds for talented artists with financial needs. Some have chosen to support graduate fellowships in art for those students seeking their MFA degrees.Whatever the case, both art scholarships and fellowships are incredibly important to the students they serve.
