Photography was the first area of the fine arts that I began to work in and has been a large source of ideas for work in other mediums. Since it has played the role of a catalyst I have worked to discover ways to include photographs into sculptural pieces. The natural environment is also a significant influence in my creative process from materials to aesthetics and ideas. The use of discarded and recycled materials -- whether man-made or natural – is a larger aspect of the work in this respect. Not only does this create new opportunities for ideas, but it brings creative challenges into the art to solve. This allows me to explore the process in the work by simply investigating the accidents that occur.
