Evolution of Woman Charcoal on paper 2008 |
||||||||
| Steph Feakes | ||||||||
| In my work I examine the manner in which naked female bodies are perceived. I usually work with a realistic sized women in mind. The posture of these women may appear vulnerable and dominated, but through the progression of the piece they become self aware and are able to challenge the viewer for control of their own body. I work large scale to make the figure physically present in the space the viewer occupies. I work with charcoal and eraser on paper, and by re-working areas over and over again I develop a realistic texture. | ||||||||
